Bridge the Divide

thursday_042309_0003Bridge the Divide is a non-profit organization that exists to provide meaningful experiences for special kids.  Most of these children were born with Down Syndrome, Autism or Cerebral Palsy.  Whatever challenge they are facing, we believe that the opportunity to care for and ride horses is life-changing.

This non-profit program runs year-round and the lessons are FREE to all participants.   We are currently give nearly ONE HUNDRED THIRTY free riding lessons a month and we hope to grow the program even more in 2009.

We also employ a number of adults with developmental disabilities through the Trinity Foundation.  They work as part-time stable hands, groom horses, clean tack, and take care of the barn and the coffeehouse.

Please contact us if you have an interest in volunteering time or resources to this worthy project.   We are currently looking for local businesses and individuals who would be willing to help sponsor our 2009 Charity Horseshow Series.  Sponsorship packages will be available soon.

We depend entirely upon the generous support of corporate and private donors.  All donations are tax-deductible and can be made out to Bridge the Divide, 1711 State Rte. 4, St. Jacob, IL  62281

"Now I believe that God did something very special the day that He created the horse.  We connect with these animals on a spiritual level.  I don't know if it's their sheer size, or their intelligence or a combination of all that makes them beautiful, but something miraculous happens the first time you realize they love you!  And they just do, love you that is.  You don't have to deserve it, and it isn't earned.  Now that kind of love changes lives. That kind of love rescued me as a child.  Later, as a young adult, it was that kind of love that allowed me to give God control of my life, and what an incredible adventure that has been!" - Cortland
