Riding Academy

Corners_mg_6648tone Farms offers beginner through advanced instruction throughout the entire year.  Our emphasis is in Hunters, Jumpers, Eventing and Vaulting.  We use an in-house Five Star Ranking System which allows our students and even our non-horsey parents to see their progress clearly!

New Rider Package- $250
(Pkg. of 8 lessons + Curriculum)
(Can also be paid for in two installments of $125 per month)
The first eight lessons will be in a semi-private format (2 students) and last one-hour each.  The package includes an eight-week curriculum for home study with video segments to reinforce ground and mounted lessons.  With each new lesson our students gain confidence and independence in preparing their horses for the mounted portion of their lesson while also learning the basic riding skills they will need for a group setting. The semi-private format allows for lunging, which allows the instructor to control the horse so the student can focus on learning proper position, balance and rhythm.

1-hour Group Instruction - $245
(Pkg. of 8 lessons, last one is free)
OR $140/month (4 lessons)
Our group lessons consist of 2 or more riders arranged by skill level, chosen discipline and age whenever possible.  Students wishing to join a group lesson must complete the New Rider Curriculum or demonstrate equivalent ability before starting.

Half-hour Private Instruction - $275
(Pkg. of 8 lessons, last one is free)
OR $160/month (4 lessons)

1-hour Private Video Instruction
(30 min. mounted, 30 min. reviewing video with Cortland)
$60 per lesson

Weekly or occasional private instruction can be arranged with Cortland.  Many students use this to supplement their group lessons, deal with specific training issues or for show preparation.  She also offers vaulting, and off-site cross-country lessons by appointment.

We believe in teaching whole horsemanship and our program will equip new riders in ALL the basics - grooming, ground handling, tacking up, and of course, riding.  We are committed to training students to be competent and caring horse owners in the future, not just accomplished riders.  The Cornerstone Equestrian Club offers an excellent opportunity to move through the ranks while gaining a valuable horse management education.

Appropriate boots with heels are required, sturdy pants with give (preferably not jeans!) and we provide ASTM/SEI certified helmets for students without their own.    You can now buy everything you need in our on-site tack store.

Our lessons run on a calendar - you purchase four to eight weeks of lessons at a time and with the larger package, you pay for seven and get the eighth one FREE!  However, we understand that illness and special activities can cause an occasional cancellation. Consequently, we offer makeup lessons on Saturdays.  If you miss a lesson, you have until the end of you package to make it up or we will apply your free lesson to cover it.  Plus, if you have advance notice, such as is the case with vacations, we will happily extend your package to accommodate your family plans.  If the barn has to cancel for any reason, we will happily extend your package.
