Our School Horses

We are so blessed to have a wonderful lesson herd here at Cornerstone.  Take a moment to meet each of our special horses.

Holly

Formally known as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Holly is one of our most popular school horses.  A 7-year old Paint mare, Holly is affectionate, quiet and very patient in teaching even our youngest riders to trot, canter and master crossrails.  She is also our vaulting team's trot horse!  Just over 15 hands, she's the perfect size for everything.

Rocky

Formally known as Rock of Ages, Rocky teaches students everything from basic flatwork, to jumping 2'+ courses.  He is also the canter horse for our vaulting team.  A seasoned pony club mount, Rocky is a POA cross who knows his job and does it really well!  He stands at about 15 hands high.

Duke

The Duke is a fabulous horse who is owned by the White family in Mascoutah.  He works full-time in the Cornerstone program and is one of our most popular Bridge the Divide horses.  A seasoned foxhunter, he can jump higher than you'd think and he looks like a bear in the winter.  Duke is a 14.2 hand Welsh Cob / Fjord cross.

Phantom

If you look at his face you can see where he gets his name - Phantom of the Opera.  He's a rather unflappable gelding, standing around 15.3 hands.  He loves to jump, has his lead changes and is proving to be quite the professional at packing students around in lessons and shows.  Known for occasional goofiness, he is already much loved!

Pickles

The newest pony in our lineup, "Piccadilly Circus" or Pickles is a Quarter Pony who stands 13.2 hands high and jumps the moon!  No fighting over him girls!

Cinco

"Hot Like Mexibeau" or Cinco is a 15.2 hh gelding by Rijn Beau (Oldenburg & AWR Stallion) owned and loved by Hailey.  He is shared with our lesson program for both lessons and showing.  Super mover, brave and honest to his fences (2'6 and beyond) Cinco is a farm favorite.

Les

_mg_7251Les is the horse who every Cornerstone student hopes they can grow up and ride one day!  A 17 hand tall spotless Paint, he is the perfect packer in the Hunter ring, Jumper arena, Foxhunting, Eventing and carries our biggest boys proudly in the Bridge the Divide program.  Clearly one of the mildest mannered and wildly talented horses in the barn, he is on loan to us from Christina Miller who is currently serving as a missionary in Asia.

Andy

_ld_1175-1"Andrew Dee" or Andy as he is lovingly known in the barn, is owned by Jodi Potterton and works hard in both the Bridge the Divide program and our summer riding camps.  He's a gorgeous Haflinger pony, standing around 13.3 hh and is good at just about everything he tries.  A Crossrail Champion, trusty trail mount and sweet, sweet boy, Andy is sure to win your heart.

Chief

_ld_5873Mr. Personality, as he is affectionately known, is the Wal-mart greeter in our barn!  He happily welcomes all visitors from his stall up front and is a talented hunter/jumper Welsh pony owned by Moriah.  Standing just 13.2 hands tall, he is large in heart and sure to make you smile!  A mainstay in the Bridge the Divide program and a season champion in the show arena, he does it all, and usually in a manner that one won't soon forget. We often use him for jump gymnastics with smaller intermediate riders and also use him for lunge lessons.

Ace

_mg_0042
Owned by young Mckayla, "Ace of Spades" has retired to the Bridge the Divide program and is now happily teaching our most exceptional riders how to have a good time.  An 11.2 hand high Hackney pony, he can trot all day long.  Seriously.  He loves the trails and eats up all the attention he can get.
