Vaulting Club
Vaulting, which is the sport of gymnastics on horseback, is the newest addition to the Cornerstone lineup! The Cornerstone Vaulting Team does demonstrations in local parades and horse exhibitions and are looking forward to their first competitve opportunities in 2010.
Although you may have never heard of it, vaultng has been around for decades, and Cortland was ranked in the top ten nationally at the Bronze level and went on to her Silver Medal before the end of her competitive career in the '80's. As a result, she was sanctioned by the American Vaulting Association (AVA) to coach the first vaulting club in the St. Louis area. Her former coach from Virginia, who is now in the AVA Hall of Fame, has agreed to mentor us in this process.
There is an Annual Membership Fee of $50, or $75 for a family membership.
We now meet various Saturdays to practice and train. The cost for these weekly, two-hour sessions will be $10 per practice, per vaulter. Whenever the temperature is under forty degrees we practice indoors on a vaulting barrel. Come check it out!
